TV'S WEAKEST LINK ANNE ROBINSON IS TAKEN TO TASK
Grandmother and author Linda Dowsett risked the wrath of The Weakest Link’s taskmaster presenter Anne Robinson with her after-show comments on the BBC programme.
The Southwick gran reached the last five of the TV show general knowledge quiz but after being voted off she bravely referred to Anne Robinson’s ‘facelifts’.
“I’m the same age as Anne but I don’t look as good as her, but then I haven’t had as many facelifts,” said 63-year-old Linda, who has just had her first book, Memories Are Made Of Love, published.
“I can’t really remember what I said after being voted off but it was something like ‘if I write a book about a quiz show host I might make enough to afford a facelift myself’.
“Fortunately I think Anne found it quite amusing,” said Linda, who only got a couple of questions wrong during the show. One was forgetting the surname of former British heavyweight boxer Henry Cooper.
Linda is already well known in and around Trowbridge having run her own business, Silhouette Fancy Dress Hire, from 1990 to 2002 and she is also a member of the Southwick Entertainers Group.
Her romantic novel, which is now on sale in Waterstone’s and WHSmith, is based on the late Win and Bob Coward who were very good friends of her and husband Gordon for 20 years.
The couple, who live in Hollis Way, are equally well known in The Shires Shopping Centre in Trowbridge, having been Father Christmas and Mrs Christmas in Santa’s Grotto for many years, something they are continuing again this year.
