PUBS' RADIO ALERT LINK TO SHIRES

A new radio system to keep troublemakers out of Trowbridge pubs has received more funding.

Trowbridge Pub and Club Watch has been awarded £5,000 by the council’s area board for the monitoring system, which will be used by pubs, clubs and other businesses in the town, to inform each other of people who are drunk or disorderly.

The project, which uses mobile phone technology, was recently awarded a £9,800 Lottery grant.

Project manager Bill Austin said: “We need an effective communication device that works.

“It is to be linked to the CCTV control room in The Shires shopping centre, which will be able to follow individuals around town.”
