SHIRES' TEAM PRAISED AGAIN

andyTHE SHIRES security officer Andy Kennon, right, has again been praised by police for his quick-thinking while monitoring the shopping centre’s CCTV cameras which also cover Trowbridge town centre.

The police were dealing with an incident over the Easter weekend where two men seemed intent on causing trouble. They asked The Shire’s security team to keep an eye on them.

Using the CCTV cameras, Andy spotted the pair getting into a car and he let the police know in good time which enabled them to act quickly and prevent them driving around the town.

The men were picked up by the police and after they gave samples, which proved positive, an arrest was made for alleged drink-driving.

Pc Jim Adams, Trowbridge central community beat manager, said: “Without Andy’s help they would doubtless have driven on the roads, and who knows what could have happened.”

He asked The Shires’ centre manager John Grinnell to thank Andy for his good work.

This is the third time in less than 12 months that Andy and The Shires’ security team have been praised by the police.

In June, following the arrest of two men for assault, Trowbridge Police Inspector Dave Cullop said: "These fantastic results not only demonstrate the professionalism of the CCTV operators but are evidence that a well-managed effective system is a major tool for bringing offenders to justice. The streets of the town are safer as a result. The community should be confident that public money is being well spent.”
