100th BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS
Chocolate company Thorntons, which has five shops in shopping centres which are clients of PRPlus Media, is celebrating its 100th birthday in 2011.
To mark its anniversary Thorntons will be unveiling its Centenary Box containing 100 Thorntons chocolates including some of its most famous heritage recipes.
Among its shops are those in Clifton Down, Bristol, The Shires in Trowbridge, Wiltshire, The Orchard Centre at Didcot, near Oxford, The Ryemarket, Stourbridge in the West Midlands and Merlin’s Walk, Carmarthen, South Wales.
Throughout the year Thorntons will be launching three Limited Edition Chocolate Blocks in classic British flavours and 2011 will see the return of old Thorntons’ favourites, including bags of Chocolate Eclairs, Rosy Apples and Rhubarb and Custards.
Customers will also have the chance to celebrate the company’s history, which started in a small chocolate cabin in Sheffield. They will be able to ‘Win a key to Thorntons Chocolate Factory’ as Thorntons launches its Golden Key campaign.
Customers who find one of 100 Golden Keys in Thorntons Chocolate Blocks have a chance to win a behind-the-scenes trip to Thorntons factory plus lots of chocolate goodies.
A Live Thorntons Chocolatier Statue will also be visiting various towns and cities around the country from February and the living statue will be providing street entertaining and raising money for the NSPCC.
