MODERN NEW SALON FOR YOUNG ENTREPRENEUR HAIRDRESSER

scottieswebA hairdresser who started his own business as a teenager three years ago has expanded, moved to bigger premises and will be taking on extra staff.

Scott Hobday, 22, pictured second left with his staff, has moved Scottie’s Hair Design just along the road in Manvers Street, Trowbridge to No.3 Manvers Street in the former Ushers Brewery site which has been redevelopment in the centre of town.  It is the first business to open as part of the redevelopment by Newland Homes.

The ultra-modern air conditioned premises which have wheelchair access and facilities for the disabled are more than twice the size of Scott’s first salon. He now employs two full-time and two part-time staff and expects to soon be looking for two additional staff.

“The move has been a lot of hard work and I’m really grateful for the moral support of my family, but it’s great to be starting the new year like this and now we have the space we can look forward to building on our loyal clientele. I’ve always wanted to be in this business and I couldn’t be happier,” said Scott, who lives with his parents Adrienne and Brian and twin brother Bradley in Yarnbrook.

Colin Scragg, of commercial property agents Carter Jonas, who helped find Scott his original salon. has now let the new Ushers Court premises. He said: “We’re delighted to have let the first commercial unit in Ushers Court and to see Scott’s business grow to such an extent in a short space of time. Two other businesses are due to move in to the redevelopment site soon, which leaves only one unit available in a prime location opposite Sainsbury’s superstore. Scott's former premises are now available for lease through Carter Jonas."

Scott’s interest in hairdressing began when he was at school at Clarendon College, Trowbridge and it has been his main passion ever since. He worked in salons at weekends and during school holidays and gained his hairdressing qualifications at Trowbridge College.

His salon caters for men, women and children and is open Tuesdays to Saturdays.
