CARE FIRM RECRUIT MORE STAFF
A recruitment day will be held on Thursday, April 7 when a shortlist of prospective care workers will be drawn up in readiness for the service to start in May or early June. Candlelight, whose headquarters are in Glastonbury but who also operate across Bath and North East Somerset, Wiltshire, Dorset and East Sussex, successfully tendered for the contract which covers the Broadstone, Waterloo, Merley and Oakley areas around Poole. The recruitment day will be at Darby’s Corner public house in Waterloo Road, Broadstone from 11am to 5.30pm for anyone who is interested in finding out more and no appointment is necessary. In a recent survey with existing Candlelight staff, 98 percent said it was a very good company to work for and they would recommend a job at Candlelight to their friends and family. Candlelight’s managing director Liz Kirkham, pictured top right, said: “We are delighted to be able to bring our long-standing experience, expertise and reputation for providing high quality care to this area.
Mrs Kirkham said as the number of clients increase so will the number of staff required and Candlelight will shortly be opening a new office in Wimborne to manage the operation. “We will be looking to recruit a number of care workers and although previous experience is an advantage, we have a very good training scheme and most of our staff have achieved NVQ level 2, so anyone joining us would participate in a thorough training programme," she said. “All our care staff attend induction and training courses before they are allowed to work with clients and receive on-going training and supervision throughout their career with Candlelight.” Candlelight has held the Investors in People award for more than 10 years.
