REACHING FOR THE SKY

balloons_webScores of red balloons filled the grey skies above The Shires shopping centre in Trowbridge, all in aid of charity.

Balloon labels have been sold in the shopping centre and its shops over the past few weeks and the owner of the balloon which travels the farthest will win £400 worth of vouchers to spend in the centre.

All the money from tickets sales will be given to Help for Heroes, the charity which helps servicemen and women in Britain’s current conflicts.

The person who finds the balloon which travels the farthest and returns the ticket to The Shires will receive £50 of vouchers.

Mr Grinnell who was interviewed on local radio after the release thanked everyone who had bought and sold balloon tickets and said well over 100 balloons (how many ????)  took to the air so the centre expected to be able to make a fairly substantial contribution to Help for Heroes, which he described as a fully deserving charity.

He said the event had originally been organised to coincide with the Veterans’ Day event but had been asked to pospone the release for the safety of low flying planes over Trowbridge Park.

The Shires hopes to announce the winners of the vouchers on its website (www.shirescentre.co.uk) in the next few weeks.
