TV SOAP STAR TO OPEN NEW STORE

Variety chain store Poundland, which sells every item in its stores for £1, is to open in The Ryemarket shopping centre in Stourbridge.

Centre manager Karl Taylor describes Poundland's arrival as a brilliant coup for the centre and for the town.

Poundland will be opening on November 10 with an official opening with all the razzmatazz including balloons, goody bags and a TV celebrity guest on November 12.

Tom Lister, right, who plays Carl King in Emmerdale, will be opening the store at 10am and customers will be able to have their photographs taken with him and get his autograph.

Established in April 1990, Poundland, whose head office is in Willenshall in the West Midlands, stocks home and kitchen-ware, gifts, healthcare and other products across 16 categories, many of which are brand names.

Centre manager Karl said: "We're delighted to welcome Poundland to The Ryemarket. The store will be a great addition to the shopping centre and will attract many customers, especially at this time with the build-up to Christmas.

Their openings are always a great event with a celebrity guest with a chance for customers to have their picture taken with them and this will be no exception."
