Mrs Cabell, has worked at Candlelight’s  Sherborne branch, which also covers Yeovil, Wincanton  and surrounding areas, as a care and support worker since October. She was nominated by her manager Sarah Lucas who said she had excelled in many ways.

“Tanya is a team player and will support other members of the team and we have started to ask her to allow new members of staff to shadow her in her work – if they are only half as good, we would be very happy,” said Mrs Lucas.

“She uses her initiative, doing the little things that can make all the difference.”

Glastonbury-based Candlelight Homecare Services operates throughout Somerset, Bath, Dorset and Wiltshire providing long and short term specialist care, including 24 hour live-in care, to help and support people so they can continue living in their own home.

Mrs Cabell has received high praise from many of her clients and their families who have expressed their gratitude for her care, support, compassion, thoughtfulness and patience.

One family member phoned to thank everyone at Candlelight “especially Tanya for her professionalism, care and support” during the last few weeks of his sister’s illness.

Mrs Cabell is currently studying for her NVQ level 2, and will hear the result of her Care Focus Award nomination at an awards ceremony at a gala dinner at the Wellsprings Centre, Taunton on Saturday, October 10.

Last year, Dawn Wasley, who works at Candlelight’s Trowbridge branch, won the Tim Catley-Day award at the ceremony. The award, for the most inspirational individual, was the one Candlelight most wanted to win as it was named after the company’s managing director who died in 2004.
