SHOPPERS IN JOYOUS MOOD

Beechwood Shopping Centre in Cheltenham was put on a show to lift shoppers' spirits at the weekend and the centre was really buzzing at the weekend with its free prize grabbing competition one of the main activities.

Grab 1A colourful giant inflatable booth in which contestants were given a set time limit to grab small balloons bearing the shopping centre’s own Beechwood Bear stickers to win prizes, attracted adults and children all day.

All the prizes, ranging from a facial worth £95, £50 vouchers and towels to small fluffy toys for the kids, were donated by stores in the centre and clients of the Best of Cheltenham.

A contestant flow of adults and children put their name on a list and queued up to try to grab as many Beechwood Bear balloons as possible and many shoppers asked when the cube would be back in the centre again.

Contestants of all ages took part, from grannies and grandads, mums and dads to five year olds.
Beechwood’s manager Pete Barber said the generosity of shopkeepers was key to the successful event and he was delighted that shoppers enjoyed the day.
The booth, which was donated by Cheltenham-based All About Fun and and operated by PR Plus Media, opened at 11am and ran until 4pm with only a couple of 15 minute breaks.
Many shopkeepers said they thought the centre was the busiest it had been for some time and the cube helped boost another in-centre event organised by the Best of Cheltenham in which some of the businesses it represents had stands to display their products and promote their services as part of a parent and family weekend.
The company’s Joanna Perks, described the day as a roaring success.

“It generated an excellent family audience,” she said. “Everyone we saw walking about looked genuinely pleased at what was happening with the prize cube and the family show. It was a real fun day.”
