CRIME PREVENTION ADVICE
Officers already provide an advice surgery every Thursday morning but a week-long presence is now planned to make the information accessible to a much wider audience. A team of police officers and community support officers will hand out leaflets, answer questions and give tips and advice on safety and crime prevention. “We want to raise awareness of the sort of crime that this area suffers from,” says Pc Jeremy Burstow. “We will have more literature and details of more local crime initiatives than on our usual stand and a more impressive backdrop to our display will hopefully make visitors to the shopping centre even more aware of our presence,” said Pc Burstow. The display will be in Clifton Down from Tuesday, November 3 through to Saturday, November 7. Times will be from 4pm to 8pm on the first two days and 10am to 3pm on the Thursday, Friday and Saturday. A specialist from the police crime prevention unit will attend on Thursday (November 5) and possibly the Friday as well, although this has yet to be finalised. An additional bonus will be a bike tagging session on Saturday (November 7) which is a way of registering a pedal cycle on-line to make it easier for the police to trace a cycle in the event of theft.
